Airport transfer to hotel.

The day starts with a spectacular early morning drive to the trailhead at Piskakucho (also known as Km. 82). Check-in and begin to hike through Inca farmland to the archaeological site of Llaqtapata. Continue to the camp at Wayllabamba (2,931m). 6 hours walking.

A steep ascent takes you over the high pass of Warmiwañusca (4,194m). Overnight camp in the bottom of the forested valley of Pacaymayo (3,587m). 7 hours walking.

Steep Inca steps take you to Wiñay Wayna (2,681m) via Runkuracay pass (3,954 m) and Phuyupayamarca pass (3,656m). Overnight camp. 8 hours walking.

A morning traverse through forest leads to the heart of the ancient city of Machu Picchu (2,420m). After a guided tour, you take a bus to Aguas Calientes and a train back to Ollantaytamo. Overnight Tunupa Lodge. 3 hours walking.

Sacred Valley of the Incas day trip. Visit Pisac Ruins, Pisac Andean market and Ollantaytambo. Overnight Cuzco.

Transfer to Cuzco airport. Service ends.

In the morning, we are taken to the airport for our return flight to the UK.

Arrive in UK

Drive to Chitwan. Evening activity. Overnight jungle resort.

Early start for birdwatching. Lunch back at the lodge, then out again for an afternoon safari. Overnight jungle resort.

Transfer to airport and fly to Kathmandu.

It’s a long drive today but worth it. You continue south to reach the legendary Magellan Strait, which you can see all the way to Primera Angostura. Here you board the ferry and cross the Strait. First discovered by Hernando de Magallanes in 1520, the Magellan Strait is the natural route for all vessels to sail from the Pacific to the Atlantic, until the Panama Channel was opened. Once in Tierra del Fuego (literally, ‘Land of Fire’, due to the fires made by the local Indians and seen by the first foreign sailors who arrived on the coast) you enter Argentina through Paso San Sebastián. Once in Ushuaia you transfer to your hotel. Alternatively, overnight in ranch rather than Ushuaia (dorm-style accommodation) 

Free day – optional activities. Overnight hotel. 

After breakfast you will head to Ushuaia Tourist Pier for a full day of activities. You will navigate the Beagle Channel to the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse where you will see Los Lobos Island and Los Patos Island. You’ll also visit the Acatushun Museum in the pioneering Estancia Harberton and will have the unforgettable opportunity to walk among penguins on Isla Martillo. Overnight hotel. 

Today you will depart Ushuaia. Service ends for those joining on a ‘Land Only’ basis.

Those who have booked our ‘With Flights’ will arrive in Buenos Aires and be transferred to their hotel in the centre of the city. Depending on flight times, you might even want to spend your last evening having a tango lesson!

You’ll be transferred to the airport to start the journey home.

Arrive in London

Travel to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Enjoy the trip with a tour guide for the day, first class rail travel (with breakfast), lunch in a local hotel and a visit to the Taj Mahal. Overnight hotel.

Return journey home

Fly to Zanzibar and stay in hotel in Stone Town for two nights.

Travel to Nungwi on the northern pinnacle of Zanzibar Island. The Beach Hotel offers extensive views over the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Relax on idyllic beaches or take a diving lesson. You have three whole days in paradise! Overnight Beach Hotel.

Return journey home.

After breakfast you will transfer to Lake Manyara with a picnic lunch from the hotel for a full day game drive around Lake Manyara. The Manyara Region takes its name from Lake Manyara, which is one of the major lakes formed by the Great Rift Valley. It is a major wildlife water source and an essential part of the wildlife ecosystems of Serengeti National Park. In addition, Lake Manyara is the country’s largest breeding ground for tens of thousands of flamingos. Dinner and overnight Kitela Lodge.

After breakfast descend down to the crater with lunch boxes for full day game drive. Ngorongoro district in Tanzania, home to the famous Ngorongoro crater and bordering the Serengeti national park, is surely one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. Animals are free to move here. This free mobility of animals and rich volcanic soil, lush forests and spring source lakes on the crater floor tend to attract tourists throughout the year. Ngorongoro also has some of the bird prey, the most common bird prey is the Augur Buzzard which is either black and white or rare all black and also the Verreaux’s Eagle. Dinner and overnight at Roika Tented Lodge.

You will have an early morning game drive before returning to the lodge at 8.30am for breakfast.  After packing you’ll then have a half day game drive in Tarangire before returning to Moshi. Tarangire lies to the south of the large open grass plains of southern Maasai and is the best-kept secret on the northern safari circuit. It offers wonderful panoramas of wide savannah grasslands dotted with open acacia woodland and studded with large Baobab trees. The density of game is second only to the Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at Keys hotel.
